Produce shortages due to flight ban
Please note that some items are in short supply due to the flight bans that are in place. Beans , mange tout , and basil seem to be the main problems but with flights set to resume shortly they should be back in stock by the weekend.
New van livery
We are pleased to announce that our vans have a brand new look. They feature a large picture of an artichoke on the first three vans with different pictures of other fruit to be used on the rest of our fleet. Let us know what you think or you can even send us suggestions of fruit you would like to see appear in the future.
Avocado ripening room
Our new purpose built avocado ripening room has just gone live. The room has a temperature control system that ensures that our avocados reach our customers in perfect “ready to eat” condition. No longer will you have to wait weeks for your avocadoes to be
ready.
Christmas opening times
With Christmas approaching fast we thought we would give you another reminder of our trading days over the festive season.
We will be open upto and including Christmas Eve (Thursday 24th December) and then reopen with a limited service on the bank holiday Monday (28th December). A full service will resume on Tuesday 29th December up to and including New Years Eve (Thursday 31st December). We will then close on New Years Day (Friday 1st January) and reopen on Saturday 2nd January.
The reason for the limited service on Monday 28th December is that due to Christmas falling on a Friday this year we are unable to source any fresh produce until the Tuesday. All produce therefore sold on the Monday will be pre Christmas stock! So if you have the storage capacity we strongly advise you to order all you need for the long weekend for a Christmas eve delivery.
Items that we may be short of on the bank holiday Monday are as follows: washed mixed salads, rugola and other baby leaves, mushrooms and most of the berry fruit. We will though have plenty stock of most other things that last longer like potatoes, onions carrots oranges etc. We will also have most of our dairy lines available too.
We hope this hasn’t been too confusing and may we take this opportunity to thank you all for your custom over the last year and wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year…

New Premises
After what has seemed an age we have finally moved into our new premises. It has taken a long time and careful planning to achieve it all but ultimately it will lead to an even better service to our customers. Besides the fact that it is a much larger place with increased fridge and freezer capacity, we now have a dedicated avocado room and ripening room for fruit. We have a bigger prep facility and covered loading bays for all our vehicles. You will be able to see pictures of the new place on our blog shortly.
English Strawberries have started
The first of our English strawberries from Kent have arrived. They are the Elsanta variety and we should have them all through the summer from now on. Please remember to ask for them when ordering your berries.
The big freeze hits deliveries
Yesterday proved to be one of our most difficult delivery days ever, when London and the south east came to a halt under a blanket of snow. All our drivers made it to work and we attempted to deliver all our orders as always. Unfortunately not all our customers made it in; so many vans came back with the produce on board. Those who didn’t receive their orders on Monday got them on Tuesday and everything is now back to normal.
Falling value of the Pound puts up produce prices
A sharp fall in the value of the pound against most currencies especially our closest trading partner the euro, has led to a rise in the cost of many items. If this continues as is expected then the price of items such as tomatoes and salads will be higher than we have been used to in previous years.
